Slaves of Noah L Thompson, Leon County
The purpose of this page is to document and identify the slaves held by Noah L Thompson (abt.1811-abt.1854) in Leon County, Florida to assist their descendants in connecting to their family tree.
In the 1840's Noah moved his family and slaves to Leon County, Florida, where he purchased plantations from James Lorimer and Augustus Alston's estate. He owned Buena Vista, Clearview, New Hope and Augustus Alston Place.[1][2]
1840 Census
In the 1840 census, Noah was listed as having 80 slaves.[3]
1850 Tax Roll and Slave Schedule
In the Leon County 1850 Tax Roll, Noah was listed as being 37, owning 122 slaves and 2682 acres, which produced 400 pounds of cotton.[2]
The 1850 Slave Schedule show N L Thompson holding 124 Slaves.[4]
1855 Probate Inventory
In an 1855 inventory of his estate, 118 slaves were appraised.[5]

- Feb 3, 1855 - Joseph John Williams and Eliza Williams posted bond and were appointed administrators.
